CASE INFORMATION

This was the first ever night time investigation of historic Laurel Hill Cemetery, located in the heart of Philadelphia, PA.  Founded in 1836, it overlooks the Schuylkill River.  Designed by Scottish architect John Notman, the cemetery features monuments, statues, and eclectic architecture, all done in marble, and was a popular tourist attraction during the 19th century.  Designated as a Historic Landmark in 1998, Laurel Hill is still being used today, currently covering 78 acres.
Some of Philadelphia's finest are interred at Laurel Hill, including Thomas Godfrey, inventor of the mariner's sextant, Thomas McKean, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, David Rittenhouse {for whom Rittenhouse Square is named}, and saw and locomotive magnates Henry Disston and Matthias Baldwin.

The SJGR team determined the use of IR Thermometers on this investigation would be lead to too many inconclusive and false positive readings due to the marble headstones and structures, and were therefore not used.

Investigators felt especially drawn to the area of the cemetery known as "Millionaire's Row", where the apparition of a male was seen.  Investigators reported experiencing sensations of being followed and watched, anxiety, tightness in the chest, headaches, lightheadedness, and smelling cigar smoke.

An above-average amount of 14% of the investigators' photos were deemed positive, along with above-average amount of EVPsThere were average amounts of positive EMF readings, but no motion sensor alarm readings were recorded during this visit.
